One day you decide, "Hey, I want a painting made especially for me. And, from what I see I want Socrates to do it!"
A. Where do you plan on hanging your new painting?: Are you going to renew your art collection with special works? Is the new painting intended for a certain spot?
B. What size works best for you?: Do you need a portrait or landscape orientation? Portrait is vertical where the art is taller than it is wide. Landscape is horizontal where the image is wider than it is tall. We have found that cutting a piece of paper or folding a sheet and pinning it to your wall will allow you to decide what the ideal size is for your space.
C. How much money do you plan to invest?: I will do my best to work within your budget. Of course size does dictate the cost; however, first decide the perfect piece and then let us see just how inventive we can become in helping you commission your ideal painting or paintings.
You can browse through this website to view an extensive collection. I think it can help you choose your own picture.
A. Select one painting, or elements from several that catch your eye. You'll know when you see it! I can paint you a special painting combining the elements you like into one unique original!
B. Do you feel strongly that certain colors or shades of color should be included in the painting? If so be sure to let me know.
C. If you have special requirements or you have a specific design of your own, please don't hesitate to contact me and I will endeavour to meet your requirements.
A. You complete the form on this page or send me an email and express your preferences and settings. I will ask you some questions regarding your needs. Consultations are usually completed within two or three conversations with me.
B. You can show me some example of a painting that you would want your commissioned painting to emulate. A picture tells 1,000 words, right?! I will never plagiarize, but giving me examples of what you like will enable me to determine how I will fine tune my own style and artistic ability to meet your need. No written or oral description that you deliver to me will ever as effectively convey to me what you want as will a picture.
C. After this process I can provide you a proposal with pricing information and an estimated completion date. Usually, the proposal will contain a sketch of the painting-to-be. Any changes to be made to the sketch can be negotiated in a follow-up consultation.
D. Each proposal will include the up-front costs of the 50% of the total amount that you will incur should you accept the commission. Up-front costs serve as a security deposit for your commission. Security deposits are non-refundable.
A. If you agree to accept my proposal, then I will begin your painting immediately after receiving the security deposit as outlined in your proposal. When the painting is completed, I will take a picture of it and send it to you. Your satisfaction is guaranteed! If there are any changes you would like made, this would be the time to do it!
B. Then, you decide upon how you would like your painting delivered. If for some reason, you decide not to accept the commission, you will either forego your security deposit.
C. In only a few days you will be able to hang your new Socrates masterpiece on your wall for generations to enjoy!
