The artist
A Spanish painter, born in Málaga and based in Guadix (Granada), Sócrates
Rízquez has spent more than four decades developing a pictorial language
entirely his own — one that has crystallised into Hyperimpressionism: a style
born of practice, of accumulated experience, and of the need to give a name
to something that already existed in his work before language caught up with it.
Working with synthetic enamels on aluminium — materials of industrial origin
that acquire a singular luminosity in his hands — his work captures the city
at its most electric: the nocturnal rain of New York, the reflections on
the wet asphalt of Chicago, the luminous stillness of Brooklyn at dawn.
Every painting is unique. Every work, an emotion that does not shout: it whispers.

The movement
Hyperimpressionism is a living synthesis between the vibrational immediacy
of Impressionism and the observational rigour of Hyperrealism. It neither
reproduces reality as a camera would nor dissolves it into open brushwork:
it transforms, intensifies and presses it until what lies behind the visible
is finally revealed.
Enamel on aluminium is not merely a technique. It is part of the language itself.
The work does not reflect light: it generates it from within.
